TippCo (US-Zone, Germany) # 1950's Tin MOTORCYCLE
TippCo (US-Zone, Germany) # 1950's Tin MOTORCYCLE.
Here we have another great toy from the collection of “PA TOYS OF TIMES PAST”
This is a rarely seen Tippco, Motorrad TCO 59, or motor bike TCO 59. It was made in the US Zone Germany, although there is no indication of this on the toy. It's an example of the classic early post-war tin litho clockwork toys manufactured by Tipp & Co, Nuremberg, Germany, U.S. Zone.
The toy represents an early 1940's era motorcycle. It has a red and cream body and gray Dunlop Cord tires, a head light, and rear saddle bags. The driver wears a khaki canvas uniform, leather boots, gloves, and blue helmet. “Training wheels” keep him upright. There are very few defects to this toy as far as the lithography. Take a close look and you will see.
The cyclist is powered with a small clockwork motor in the saddle bags and has an attached key. The training wheels are not angled , instead the front wheel can be pitched either to the left or the right. After it’s wound up it glides smoothly across the floor, either in a straight line or in a wide or narrower circle. Best of all……it works well and the motor is still strong!
Any questions just ask. Thanks
