Here you have another great unique toy from the “PA TOYS OF TIMES PAST” collection! Folks, this is a Louis Marx’s tin windup “PROTOTYPE” Which means it’s basically a one of one. You aren’t going to find another one anywhere out there. A little history lesson on what this prototype is all about. It’s similar to a full sized automotive concept car. Car manufacturers create a visionary idea of a car that they might want to have manufactured. So they make one model that shows what they would want it to look like. And if it fly’s, than it will be mass produced. Some changes here and there might occur and not show up on the production vehicle. Marx toy company had the same idea when they had an idea to put out a toy for production. Their toy development lab was located in Erie, Pa. So the development teams set out to hand make their visionary “concept” toys. Some would eventually make it to full scale production as many never saw the light of day. This particular toy was one of those. Some note worthy information about this toy. It as all prototype toys were all hand made with ever detail hand painted. The lithography was not done until the toys were approved to go into production. You an also tell that this toy is a prototype by the hand painted words of where and when it was made. So, the word Erie and the date made 11-3-37 on the underside of the toy. This toy is in working condition and in great condition. Some of the paint is missing on the both sides where it says “Marx Contracting Company” but is expected as it is a very old antique. You aren’t going to find any out there for sale so grab it before it’s gone. So if you want something that nobody has or will ever have, this is the piece for you!
